Western Michigan Bengali Cultural Association (WMBCA) is a non-profit organization formed by “Bengalis” (community from eastern India) who live in West Michigan. The organization aims to create awareness about the rich cultural heritage of India amongst the larger community, help integrate members of the South East Asian communities to the area by providing a local platform to celebrate Bengali festivals and events and get them to give back to the larger community by participating in charitable causes and volunteer activities.
Durga Puja – the ceremonial worship of the mother goddess, is one of the most vivacious festivals of India. Apart from being a religious festival for the Hindus, it is also an occasion for reunion and rejuvenation, and a celebration of traditional culture and customs.
Mother Durga represents the embodiment of shakti, the divine feminine force that governs all cosmic creation, existence and change.
Following the tradition of previous years, this year too WMBCA has planned lots of activities for children including kids’ art corner, cultural programs apart from the regular religious activities.
So, please save the date and join us to make the event a grand success!
